I'm very excited to finally share with the world what had become a perennial pet project of mine: A good-looking website where I can showcase myself, my work and, every once in a while, my thoughts.

While creating this site, I learned three valuable lessons:

Talking about yourself is hard. Don't get me wrong, I am sure this is not a problem for everyone, but for the less narcissistic among us, making an entire website with information about yourself is nothing short of a challenge, even when you are absolutely proud of your achievements as a writer and beyond.
Making a good website is not so hard. Again, this more or less depends on your proficiency with technology, but while working on this project I confirmed that anybody out there, business or individual, should be able to create an amazing website without breaking the bank or going crazy in the process. Of course, it takes an investment in time, money and dedication, but the tools are there for anyone who wants to use them.
It's a good idea to do both. In a world dominated by social media and short attention spans, it is of utmost importance to learn how to convey yourself effectively. While resumes and cover letters let you do this, nothing is more powerful in today's digital age than a well-crafted website where people can get a more accurate reading of who you are and what you can do.
